5/10/2023 0 Comments Buttercup and westley![]() The Princess Bride was not a box-office hit at the time of its release, but it garnered a cult following for its balance of swashbuckling adventure and lighthearted comedy, its twist on traditional stories of romance, and its many quotable lines. Fans can revisit Buttercup and Westley's journey on Disney+. The story is set in the fictional European nation of Florin, and stars Buttercup (Robin Wright), a simple yet incredibly beautiful farmgirl, and Westley. The Princess Bride's 1987 film adaptation was directed by Rob Reiner and famously starred Cary Elwes and Robin Wright with Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, and Andre the Giant giving memorable supporting performances. The story is about farmhand-turned-pirate Westley who goes on an adventure to rescue his true love, Buttercup, both from her kidnappers and her reluctant marriage to Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). ![]() BUTTERCUPS FARM - DAY BUTTERCUP is standing. Before the marriage takes place, Buttercup is kidnapped. The Prince of the land chooses Buttercup to be his bride, regardless to her feelings. A short time later, Buttercup learns that Westley has been killed by pirates. He dedicated 1.5 months to growing his beard out, and the night of, he spent 30 minutes shaving. GRANDFATHER (off-screen reading) Nothing gave Buttercup as much pleasure as ordering Westley around. Buttercup also falls in love with Westley, so he sets out to find his fortune so they can be married. The Princess Bride is a fantastic film, and it has many elements that make it a delight to watch. ![]() Just as love raised Christ from the dead, Westley is revived thanks to the noble cause of true love. Goldman's original novel was a fictional meta-narrative, and Buttercup's Baby may be just a continuation of the concept developed in the original book. Westley’s black pants are actually from the women’s section at Good Will, and the black boots we found were actually Size 11 black boots from Wal-Mart The only pair left The real tricky part for my husband’s Westley costume was the mustache. Thus, Westley’s love for Buttercup not only saves Buttercup at the end of the film, but it also saves Westley. The one entrance is a secret that only the Prince, the Count and the Albino know of. The Albino (Nicholas Braun) tells Westley, there’s no chance of escape or rescue. Fans of William Goldman's 1973 novel The Princess Bride have been waiting for the sequel, Buttercup's Baby, but The Princess Bride's follow-up has been the subject of much speculation, and the rumored book may not even exist. Westley (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) wakes up in the Pit of Despair while an albino man cleans up his shoulder wound.
